Be Still

My child, are you distracted? Does your mind jump from one idea to the next before you can carry out the first? Are you thinking of everything else you should be doing right now? Are you making lists in your head? Are you reviewing interactions and conversations from the previous day? Are you planning out your day today? Are you afraid to allow yourself quiet time with me, because it seems like a waste of time, when you don’t hear from me?

Be still. I know it is difficult to achieve, when your life is so busy. Be still. I am God. I am the author and finisher of your time. I know the number of your days. I give you permission to sit and be still with me. Everything else will wait. This time you choose to give me is the most important thing you will do today. Seek me first, and everything else will fall into place. Honor me with your time. It may not seem so, but I am in control of all things, even your time.

Do not be concerned about completing your checklist today. It will get done in due time. Relax and sit with me for a while. I love spending time with you. You may not hear my voice, but I will continue to speak to you until you recognize it. I will never give up on you. Please don’t give up on me. My Spirit lives inside you. Quiet yourself and let nothing keep you from hearing my voice. I speak to you daily. Be still and listen to me.

You are my child, even my heir. All I have belongs to you. I have so much to give you. Will you spend time with me? Come near to me and I will come near to you. When you seek me with all your heart, you will find me. Do I have your whole heart? Be still and give yourself to me.

I am a God of peace. I will give you my peace any time you need it. Just ask. Allow me to breathe peace into your crazy life. Practice peace by taking time to be still with me. I am all you need. I am everything. Trust me to meet all your needs. My Spirit will bring peace to your anxious, weary soul. Be still and experience me.

Be still and know me. Be still, and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10)
