My Sweet Baby Girl

A woman is standing at the microphone and holding a pen.

My Sweet Baby Girl

My “Sweet Baby Girlâ€, I can’t wait to meet you

Thinking about all the fun things we will do

From the moment you draw your first little breath

Until I depart this world with my death

Your Grammy will sing you sweet lullabies

And rock you to sleep as you close your eyes

I’ll read nursery rhymes with you on my lap

And peek in the crib while you’re taking a nap

We’ll play on the floor and make lots of noise

I’ll send you home with annoying, loud toys

I’ll teach you to crawl, to walk, even run

Every time we’re together we’ll have loads of fun

You’ll ride in the stroller as we walk down the street

And I’ll show you off to everyone that we meet

We’ll visit the park and climb monkey bars

I’ll push your little swing in our own backyard

Watching you take your first little step

Will be the most exciting thing yet

I’ll take lots of pictures and post them for friends

My brag book, chock full, will burst at the ends

I’ll watch you dance and enjoy your school plays

Afterward giving you oodles of praise

I’ll support your fundraisers and cheer for your sports

And celebrate all of your good grade reports

We’ll bake in the kitchen, getting covered in flour

I’ll take you shopping for hours and hours

We’ll play with dolls and go for bike rides

We’ll explore new places, side-by-side

We’ll go to the beach and build castles of sand

And walk the shoreline, your hand in my hand

We’ll have lots of sleepovers with giggles and fun

And crash in the bed when the long day is done

I’ll teach you everything that I know

Not only with words but also with show

We’ll talk about God and Jesus, His Son

I’ll share the wonderful things they have done

I’ll take you to church, and we’ll sit in the pews

I’ll share with you, the Gospel’s good news

We’ll read the Bible; I’ll teach you to pray

Not only at meals, but all through the day

I want you to know how much you are loved

Not only by me, but by God above

He knit you together in your mother’s womb

Perfectly, for improvement, there’s no room

He gave you two parents who are the world’s best

Knowing that you’ll certainly put them through tests

But no matter the things that you say or do

You must remember always that we all love you!

No matter your strengths, your weakness, your status,

Your behavior, your choices, anything you throw at us,

At any age, you’ll make my head swirl

You’ll always be Grammy’s “Sweet Baby Girlâ€!

I love you already, more than you know

I’ll love you forever, wherever you go

I’ll always love you, any way that it’s stacked

I’ll love you forever, to the moon and back.

Join Me in the Dance

Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to Him with tambourine and harp. (Psalm 149:3)

You are my child. I want to spend time with you. If early morning is the only time that works, then get up and dance with Me. I am your dance partner. I want to be involved in your life—all of it. Remember I am with you every moment of every day. Notice Me. Speak with Me all day long. Listen to Me first thing in the morning, throughout your day, and just before bed. Dance is an art form that requires practice to perform well. Practice dancing with Me all day long.

Join Me in the Dance

 by Sindy Nagel

Dance with Me in the morning

Dance with Me in the night

Dance with Me in the darkness

Dance with Me in the light

Dance with Me in the rain

Dance with Me in the sun

Dance with Me in the doldrums

Dance with Me in the fun

Dance with Me when you’re happy

Dance with Me when you’re sad

Dance with Me when you’re good

Dance with Me when you’re bad

Dance with Me when you’re anxious

Dance with Me when you’re still

Dance with Me when you’re hurting

Dance with Me when you’re well

Dance with Me when you’re broken

Dance with Me when you’re whole

Dance with Me in your heart

Dance with Me in your soul

Dance with Me when you’re weak

Dance with Me when you’re strong

Dance with Me in the silence

Dance with Me in the song

Dance with Me in the storms

Dance with Me in the peace

Dance with Me in captivity

Dance with Me in release

You may not know the steps

But don’t miss your only chance

To cherish this time together

When you join Me in the dance

Take my hand and I will lead you

The dance is more like a walk

A two-way chat between us

When we listen and we talk

Spend some time in the silence

Get away from the crowds and noise

Be still and know that I am God

And listen to my voice

Have Fun Along the Way

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace. (Acts 20:24)

Lord, for nearly two years, I have been working on a large ministry assignment you have given me. There is still a lot of work to do. Lord, I just want to do something new and fun for a few days. May I work on a new idea you have given me or do I need to keep trudging along in the larger task until it is complete?

My darling, this is not a race; it’s a marathon. You may participate in some 5Ks along the way. Have fun! I don’t want this to feel like work for you. This is a labor of love. Mix it up, while at the same time, staying the course to the finish line. Don’t start many small projects and never finish any of them. I want you to finish the original work I have given you. I want it to reach the public to be a blessing. So you may have fun, and mix it up, but also keep plugging along and finish the marathon you have started running. I am the prize; run for Me. Finish the race I have marked out for you. Complete the task I have given you, but have fun along the way. I am delighted in you.

Thank you, Lord. I will finish your work, and I will have fun along the way.
