“United” States of America? Not!

A woman is standing at the microphone and holding a pen.

Jesus Christ is the One and Only True God of the “United” States of America.

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of UNITY among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. (emphasis mine, Romans 15:5-7)

The one star on the flag pictured here suggests UNITY–Fifty individual states that come together to form ONE nation under GOD. In a week of divided discontent and the protests of a nation against the man elected by its people to serve as the next leader of the free world, it would behoove us to consider the Scripture above.

As followers of Christ, we are called to a spirit of unity, so that with one heart and mouth we may glorify God. Therefore, we MUST ACCEPT one another, just as Christ accepted us, in order to bring praise to God.

If you find yourself wanting to protest the most recent leadership choice of the nation, should you instead channel your energy into glorifying God by accepting one another? Remember the words of Paul in Romans 8:28 & 31, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose…What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

UNITY–“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

Since Jesus Christ graciously accepted me, a sinner, shouldn’t I imitate and obey Him by accepting others? With man (or woman), this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Paul is the perfect example of how God can use even the worst of sinners for the good of those who love Him. I think God can handle the latest election results. Yes, God can use even Donald Trump for the good of those who love God. Let this be your testimony to your friends who are eager to sign their name to a petition and march with a sign in their hands. Imitate God and encourage a spirit of unity. Accept one another in order to bring praise to God.

And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (James 5:16)

Pray for Donald Trump as he prepares to lead the Not-United States of America.

Do Not Be Discouraged

Run to the Arms of God

by Sindy Nagel

When discouragement beats me down

I run to the arms of God.

He holds my hand and leads me on

Where others have not trod.

He gives new strength to my tired bones

And hope to my weary soul.

He makes me of sound mind again

In Him I now am whole.

He calls me in His righteousness

To bring new sight to the blind

To release those held in prison

If only in their mind.

I will not fear, for I’m redeemed

And called by His new name.

He healed me and transformed me;

I will never be the same.

The road less traveled has its bumps

The sailing sometimes rough

But still I will press on for Him

Because He is enough.

Inspired by the Word of God:

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1)

“I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.” (Isaiah 42:6-7)

By His Wounds You Have Been Healed

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. (1 Peter 2:24-25)

My baby sheep, I love you and take care of you like a Good Shepherd. You once were lost, but now you are found. You wandered away from the fold, but now you have returned to me. In your wandering your story developed. Though you suffered wounds, I healed those wounds. I suffered on a tree so that you might die to sin and live for me. I turned your ashes into beauty. I am the Overseer of your soul. You may now live in righteousness because you have been healed by my wounds. I died for you. Will you now live for me?

Plumb – Need You Now (How Many Times) Lyrics

Well, everybody’s got a story to tell

And everybody’s got a wound to be healed

I want to believe there’s beauty here

So, I guess you’re tired of holding on

I can’t let go, I can’t move on

I want to believe there’s meaning here

How many times have you heard me cry out

“God please take this”?

How many times have you given me strength to

Just keep breathing?

Oh I need you God, I need you now.

Standing on a road I didn’t plan

Wondering how I got to where I am

I’m trying to hear that still small voice

I’m trying to hear above the noise

How many times have you heard me cry out

“God please take this”?

How many times have you given me strength to

Just keep breathing?

Oh I need you God, I need you now.

Though I walk, Though I walk through the shadows

And I, I am so afraid

Please stay, please stay right beside me

With every single step I take

How many times have you heard me cry out?

And how many times have you given me strength?

How many times have you heard me cry out

“God please take this”?

How many times have you given me strength to

Just keep breathing?

Oh I need you God, I need you now. I need you now

Oh I need you God, I need you now. I need you now

I need you now
