Strength in Weakness

Heavenly Father, sometimes I feel so physically, emotionally, and spiritually drained. I am spent. I cannot even muster enough strength to take the next step, to put one foot in front of the other. Lord, where do I turn from here? Where do I find my strength in weakness? Why do I feel so weak? I am so humbled at this point. I have lost all my strength and independence.

A Message from God’s Heart to Yours:

My good child, let Me explain. In order to keep you from being prideful, I allow trials and challenges in your life. When you are humbled before Me and emptied of all your pride; when you reach the end of your ‘self’’; only then are you ready to receive My grace and help. You begin to understand that everything you hold closely, and all that you are, comes from My hand. Every good and perfect gift is from above (James 1:17). I see you in your weakness and give you My strength.

Pain, grief, disappointment, rejection, and failure may bring you to your knees. That is not a bad place to be. I often need to allow these tough times in your life before you are ready to let go and let Me go to work for you. I promise to work all things together for the good of those who love Me and are called according to My purpose 8:28). If you never experienced frailty, would you ever have a need for Me? My desire is that you will run to Me in these tough times, so I might teach you about My love and faithfulness. However, I would love for you to seek Me in the good times as well. Worship Me and seek Me with your whole heart (Deuteronomy 4:29). Love Me with all your heart, soul, mind and strength (Deuteronomy 6:5). Put Me first, above everything else.

Depend on Me. When you are weak, it is then, you are strong in Me. Therefore, be willing to boast all the more gladly about your weaknesses. My power is made perfect in weakness (1 Corinthians 12:9). Your weakness is My strength. Believe it! You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13). You will know My strength when you remain in relationship with Me, especially when you are at your lowest point. In difficult times, I am your rock and your fortress (Psalm 18:2). I am all that you need.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). I am with you in all your trials, every one. I will never leave you or forget about you (Joshua 1:5). I wait patiently for you to turn to Me for help and strength. My arms are always open to you. Run to Me when you are exhausted. I will renew your strength and you will soar on wings like eagles; you will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint (Isaiah 40:31). I am here for you, My child. You have access to all that is Mine, including My strength, at all times. Just ask!

Prayer:

Father in heaven, I am in awe of You. You are so good to Me. You are always there for Me any time I need a helping hand, a word of encouragement, a boost in my spirit. Thank You for Your loving kindness and Your faithfulness. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). I am thankful in the trials, because I can depend on You. Lord, please speak to me from Your heart at this time. In the name of Christ, my solid Rock, I pray. Amen.

Papa God, what is it that you want me to know and hear from You today? (Record all the thoughts He gives you.)

Loving Father, thank You for Your kind words and faithful promises. I am so blessed to have You for my Papa. I owe my life to You; You are my strength and my All in All. Thank You for renewing my strength when I am weak; even for carrying me in the difficult times. You build me up when I am frail. You lift me up when I am down. You support me in all I do. I love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Where is God?

Father, sometimes when painful things happen to us, we wonder where You are and why You would allow us to go through our trials, troubles, and challenges. Lord, will you speak to that question for me? Where are You in the midst of our toil, pain, and heartache?

A Message from God’s Heart to Yours:

I am right there with you in the middle of your hardships and your pain. In all your distress, I too am distressed (Isaiah 63:9). I understand what you are going through; I, Myself, have experienced an even greater measure of pain and suffering. Where am I in your suffering? I am where the pain is. I was crushed for your iniquities; the punishment that brought you peace was on Me (Isaiah 53:5). I will never leave you or forsake you (Joshua 1:5).

Oh my child, I know your pain. I know your anger, your anxiety, your frustration, your hurt. Cast all your cares on me. Give over your burdens and exchange them for a lighter load. Be yoked with me and I will carry you through your difficulties. Remain in Me and I will remain in you. Find your peace in knowing that you are following My will and plans. You are doing the right thing. I know you do not understand My ways, but I will work all things together for the good of those who love me and are called according to My purpose (Romans 8:28). You have been called by Me. You do not need to understand it all right now. I am always working behind the scenes to bring about My will, to bring about change in people who are willing to seek Me with their whole heart.

In your trials I carry you (Isaiah 63:9). As you were crucified with Me, you now must daily bear your own cross of suffering (Luke 9:23). You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with your whole heart. Seek Me in Your affliction and you will find Me there. I do not leave you to walk through your valleys alone. I take you by the hand and guide you through the rough terrain and over the mountain peaks. I remove the obstacles that stand in your way. But I do not necessarily remove you from your troubles, or remove your troubles from you. The lessons learned in affliction are often the most valuable teachings that mature your faith to a level that a life of all pleasure would never attain.

Submit yourself to Me. Delight in Me and I will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). I will prosper you, give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). The blessings from your obedience will be passed down from generation to generation of those who love me. Hang in there. Do not be overwhelmed by the magnitude of this trial. I will carry you through. I will walk you through this challenge. There is a mountain of peace and blessing on the other side of this valley. Hold to the truth and the truth will set you free.

I am setting you free from this emotional, physical, and financial burden. I will bless you seven times the cost of this trial. Your reward is from Me. Run for the prize. Do not look back. Do not look side to side in comparison with your brother or sister. Do not let the enemy overtake you and break in or interrupt the race you are running with Me. I am your running mate. Together we will win this race and celebrate the joy of the rewards.

I love you, My child. Keep your head up, your eyes to the sky, and focus on Me, not your troubles. I am here. I will never leave you or forget about you. I will carry you through. You are My friend, My beloved child, the heir of everything that belongs to Me.

Prayer:

Most Holy One, I thank You for Your love and kindness. I am grateful that I am never alone when I remain in relationship with You. Thank You for Your presence in my trials, even when I don’t know it or feel it. I thank You for working in the background to cause the good to come out of every trial I face. Lord, I am secure in the confidence I have that You are in control and You want the best for me. I submit myself to You, and ask that You share Your heart with me now about the challenges I am walking through today. Please help me see Your hand in my life and know Your presence in every situation. In the name of Jesus, my Rescuer, I pray. Amen.

Jesus, my Friend, please show me Your presence and compassion in my pain. Share Your heart for my suffering. (Write down all words and thoughts you hear.)

Holy Spirit, my Comforter, please ease my cares and share God’s heart for me in this struggle. Why do I need to endure this pain? (Journal what He says to you.)

Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank You for being present with me at all times, through every challenge I face, guiding me through the valleys and climbing the mountains with me. I am so grateful for your love and care. Thank You for sharing your heart with me now, and please give me a teachable heart to know and learn more about You and how You take care of me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Refining Fire

Lord, I am thankful that in all things You work for the good of those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Lord, You allow the fire of our trials and afflictions, in order to test us and purify us. Your refining fire of adversity will remove the dross, skim off the waste in our lives, and purify us, like silver and gold. When the dross has been removed, You, the Silversmith, can make something of our lives (Proverbs 25:4-5). You can use our vessel to complete the purpose You fashioned us for. Lord, thank You for Your wisdom in allowing us to suffer trials, to refine us and mature us in our faith. We learn to trust more completely in You, as You accompany us in the fiery furnace (Daniel 3:24-25) and bring us to a place of abundance (Psalm 66:8-12).

A Message from God’s Heart to Yours:

O child of Mine, it is good you understand a portion of My ways. There are times when I spare you from challenges and troubles, yet other times I do not. I allow you to endure trials and I use them for your good: to strengthen you; to perfect your faith; and to purify you, removing the unnecessary waste from your life. I refine you as silver and test you as gold (Zechariah 13:9).

Do not fear the heat of the fire; fire is your friend. The furnace will be only hot enough to soften your will to the point when I can fashion you into a masterpiece, even more beautiful. I am with you in the fiery furnace. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze (Isaiah 43:2). Take My hand; I will walk you through the fire, into a place of abundance (Psalm 66:12).

Count it all joy whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything (James 1:2-4). I will not allow you to be tested beyond what you can handle. I give you My Spirit to strengthen you in your weakness. I will renew your strength; you will soar on wings like eagles; you will run and not grow weary, you will walk and not be faint (Isaiah 40:31).

My beloved one, submit your will to Mine. Gladly enter the fire of refinement. Permit Me to mold you and make you according to My will. I sanctify you Myself (John 17:19). I desire that you continually allow Me to work in your life to make you more and more like Myself. This work will best be accomplished in the fire of refinement. I would not ask you to do something I have not done Myself. Lay down your life, and yield to Me. I know what is best for you and I desire only that. I want you to know how much I love you, My friend.

Prayer:

Father God, my Silversmith, I delight in You. Thank You for loving me so much that You are willing to allow the trials which will refine me the most. Thank You for walking me through the flames and not letting me perish. I am grateful for the gift of Your Spirit who strengthens me when I am weak. Do not let any of these trials go to waste, Lord. Use them all for my good. Teach me Your ways, Lord. May I be like putty in the Potter’s hand? Please speak to me now and show me more of Your beautiful heart for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Holy Spirit, my Paraclete, stay with me in this present adversity. Make my spirit willing to endure this trial and my mind open to the lessons You want me to learn in it. Help me to see this challenge through Your eyes. What outcome do you desire for me? (Journal all His thoughts and impressions.)

Prayer:

Wise Father in heaven, thank You for the trials and the fire that refines me. Please use these trials for my good: mature my faith and trust in You; sanctify my spirit; teach me Your ways and Your wisdom. I submit myself to You; please take my hand and walk me through my challenges. Lord, do not let the flames set me ablaze, but rescue me before I perish. Thank You for Your presence next to me in the furnace that burns so hot. Refine me with Your fire, so that I may set the world on fire for You! In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

For My own sake, for My own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield My glory to another.”

Jeremiah 9:7, Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty says: “See, I will refine and test them, for what else can I do because of the sin of my people?”

Ezekiel 22:17-22, ¹⁷Then the word of the Lord came to me: ¹⁸“Son of man, the people of Israel have become dross to Me; all of them are the copper, tin, iron and lead left inside a furnace. They are but the dross of silver. ¹⁹Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘Because you have all become dross, I will gather you into Jerusalem. ²⁰As silver, copper, iron, lead and tin are gathered into a furnace to be melted with a fiery blast, so will I gather you in My anger and My wrath and put you inside the city and melt you. ²¹I will gather you and I will blow on you with My fiery wrath, and you will be melted inside her. ²²As silver is melted in a furnace, so you will be melted inside her, and you will know that I the Lord have poured out My wrath on you.’”

Daniel 3:24-25, ²⁴Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly Your Majesty.” He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”

Daniel 6:26-27, ²⁶”I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. For He is the living God and He endures forever; His kingdom will not be destroyed, His dominion will never end. ²⁷He rescues and He saves; He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. For He will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap. ³He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; He will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Pursuing the Heart of God – Day 35

Tired & Weary? Rest in Me

Heavenly Father, why do I wait until I am maxed out physically, emotionally, and spiritually to seek You for renewed strength and increased power. Your Word promises that when I put my hope in You, You will renew my strength. I will soar on wings like eagles, run and not grow weary, walk and not be faint (Isaiah 40:29-31). Help me to seek You at the beginning of my trials, before I run out of fuel, running in my own direction. Lord, I put my faith in You and Your power within Me, to walk me through this challenge. Lord, what do You want me to hear and know today?

A Message from God’s Heart to Yours:

Come to Me, weary one. Lay down your burdens at My feet. I will carry your heavy load and exchange it for a lighter load to bear. Put your confidence in Me and find rest for your weary soul. My yoke is easy and My burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30). Surrender everything to Me and rest. Leave your worries and your cares in My capable hands. Allow Me to remove the weight of your responsibilities, and give you My perfect peace.

Hold fast to Me. Depend on Me for your every need. When you are weak, it is then you are strong (2 Corinthian 12:10). Trade in your stress, lay it down, and do not take it up again. Replace it with the confidence and joy of trusting in Me for everything you desire and need. My joy is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Take hold of the hope set before you and be encouraged. This hope in Jesus Christ is an anchor for the soul, firm and secure (Hebrews 6:18-19).

When you face trials, consider it pure joy, a testing of your faith. Learn to persevere to the finish to grow in your maturity and faith in Me (James 1:2-4). Be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:9). Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior (Isaiah 43:1-3).

Trust Me completely for everything. I am the Sovereign Lord, in control of all things. Submit yourself to Me. I am your helper. Be not afraid (Hebrews 13:6). I will see you through this difficult time. Cast all your anxiety on Me because I care for you (1 Peter 5:7). I will take care of you and allow your soul a break from the stress you endure.

Rest in Me. Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10). Draw near to Me and I will draw near to you (James 4:8). I do not give you more than you can handle. I give generously the power of My Spirit within you. Look within you and find the strength which reinforces your constitution and foundation in Me. I am here. I desire to daily meet with you in a quiet place where I can effectively communicate the depth of My love and concern for you.

You are My beloved child, whom I love. I do not allow you to be overwhelmed when you depend on Me. Rest in Me, My love. I am your shelter and your strong tower. I will rescue you from your present difficulties in due time. Seek Me in the middle of your storms, and find your respite in Me. I will walk you through the valleys and push the mountains aside that stand in your way. I prepare the path I have marked out for you. This is the good way. Walk in it and you will find rest for your soul (Jeremiah 6:16).

Prayer:

Father, thank You for your comforting, encouraging words and promises. I will find rest for my weary soul when I spend some time alone with You. Jesus, as I draw near to You now, please draw near to Me and quiet me with Your love. Speak to my heart directly from Your heart through the voice of the Holy Spirit within me. Lord, I seek You now, to be still and know that You are God. In the quietness of this secret place, allow me to clearly hear a word from You. In the name of Jesus, my Rescuer and my Refuge, I pray. Amen.

For the Good of Those Who Love Me

Lord, we know that even Christ followers are not free from personal struggles, challenges, trials, and disappointments. At times You allow us to experience difficulties in order to grow us in our faith and fortify our relationship with You. It is during these times, that we come to the end of ourselves and have no place else to turn, but to You. Thank You that You wait patiently for us to seek You and depend on You. When we seek You in the middle of the hardships, You strengthen our faith and increase our trust in You. We have the awesome promise that You will use all these trials, challenges, and disappointments for our good. Your love and grace are truly amazing!

A Message from God’s Heart to Yours:

My child, when you face difficulties in this life, rather than falling away from Me, run toward Me. Stay firm in the faith and put your trust in Me. Though you face opposition and obstacles, I am teaching you persistent determination. Do not be too eager for immediate resolution to your problems. Allow Me to do My work in My perfect timing and bring about the best for all concerned. In the process, I will teach you abiding hope and perseverance that will get you through anything you may face in the future as well.

Adversity may reveal a hidden sin in your life. Do not run ahead hoping to speed your way through this hardship. Take a step back and pay attention to the conviction of the Holy Spirit (John 16:8). When necessary, confess your sin and turn away from it. Do not return to the ways of the flesh. You are a new creation in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17). Do not default to your old nature. Allow the God of peace to sanctify you through the work of the Holy Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24). Allow your adversity to be a bridge to a more meaningful relationship with Me.

Cast all your anxiety on Me. I care for you. Be alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing similar sufferings. After you have suffered a little while, I, Myself will restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast. All power is Mine for ever and ever (1 Peter 5:7-11).

Child of Mine, My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:9). I know all things, and I will work all things together for the good of those who love Me, who have been called according to My purpose (Romans 8:28). Allow Me the room to move in your life in My ideal timing. Be strong and take heart, wait upon Me (Psalm 27:14). Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer (Romans 12:12). Be joyful in the confidence of knowing I am in control. Endure your suffering with forbearance. Always persevere in a continual posture of prayer. Give thanks in all things, at all times (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

I will allow this adversity only as long as it takes to accomplish My purpose in you. I will not leave you in it any longer than is necessary. You may have troubles, but I will deliver you from them all (Psalm 34:19). My purpose is fulfilled in you as you mature in your faith through your trials. When I have your attention, your heart is softened to spending time with Me. You are being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29), as you persevere in your trials. You are being molded and shaped through the heartaches and pain, learning to be more dependent on Me, and being prepared to serve where I need you most. I desire your devotion to a deeper connection with Me. I love you, My friend, and I want to spend more time with you.

Prayer:

Almighty God, I praise You Father because You are the all-knowing, all-powerful, ever-present God. You know what is best for every person and every situation and You will and work all things together for the good of those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Lord, I thank You that You created me, love me, care for me, and prepare me for the purpose You created me for. Thank You for the difficulties You allow that mature me into the person You need me to be to carry out Your purpose and Your plan. Please walk me through each challenge and teach me everything I need to know. Lord, speak to me now, as I meet with You alone. Share Your heart with me in a more personal way.

You alone can calm the wind and the waves and push back the clouds to reveal the sunshine again. I look forward to the rainbow at the end of this storm. May I humbly receive the instruction from Your lips which encourages the growth I need in my faith to withstand all the tests of time. Help me persevere in patience as I wait on You for the outcome of these momentary troubles. Thank You for sharing Your heart with me today. Pursuing the Heart of God – Day 15 – My Peace I Give You

Dear Jesus, please calm my fears and anxieties. Replace the angst and worry with Your calming reassurance and peace. Help me to know and feel Your perfect peace that passes all understanding. Give me the confidence of knowing You are in control of all things, and You will take care of me and my loved ones. Remind me of Your perfect love and protection.

A Message from God’s Heart to Yours:

My child, do not fear, do not be afraid. I am God, and I am in control of all things (Psalm 103:19). I will take care of you and your loved ones. You may depend on Me for all your needs, in all situations. No matter what challenges you face, I will be with you, sustaining you and strengthening you to walk victoriously through your trials. Remain in Me and I will remain in you (John 15:5).

I am the Prince of Peace. My name is Peace. You have access to My peace at all times through My Spirit within you. The Holy Spirit is My peace I leave with you (John 14:27). Find your tranquility and respite as you remain with Me in the secret place. In the stillness, I will quiet your fears and apprehensions. Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10). I am your refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Trust in Me with all your heart. I will supply all your needs (Philippians 4:19). Do not doubt My faithfulness; I am true to My promises. Come to Me with your burdens. Lay them at My feet and do not pick them up again. I will carry your burdens for you and give you a lighter load. Take My yoke upon you, for My yoke is easy and My burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).

Seek Me in all you do. Submit yourself to Me. Come near to Me and I will come near to you (James 4:7-8). I am your Rock and Refuge (2 Samuel 22:2-3). I am your stronghold in times of trouble. Find your confidence and reassurance in Me. I will shelter you and protect you. I will rescue you and uphold you. You are mine, and I will take care of you. I have your best interests in mind, therefore, you may be at peace in your mind and in your heart. I will be with you always, my beloved one.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, I confess my lack of faith and trust in You which is evident in my worry and anxiety. I submit myself to You now Lord, and ask that You change my negative thoughts into belief and confidence in Your eternal promises. I thank You for caring for me so completely. You meet all my needs and You give me the desires of my heart. I may trust You with my life because You are faithful and true to Your promises. My heart and mind are at peace when I am with You. You calm all my fears and worries. I cast them on You. Thank You for carrying the weight of my burdens. I am excited to meet with You now and hear more of Your heart for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Pursuing the Heart of God – Day 14 – Do Not Fear

Lord God, when times are uncertain and unpredictable, many people, including myself, succumb to fear. Lord, when our world as we know it is shaken and turned upside down, and the future is unsure, what should be our appropriate response? What do we do with our fear of the unknown? Our fear of the worst? Our fear of financial ruin? Our fear of serious illness? Even, our fear of death? Lord, please calm all our fears.

A Message from God’s Heart to Yours:

Look to the mountains, where does your help come from? Your help comes from Me. I AM the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth. I will not let your foot slip—I watch over you and never sleep (Psalm 121:1-4).

Do not be afraid. I am true to My promises. I keep My word. I am faithful to those who love Me. Trust in Me with all your heart. Do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Me and I will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). No need to fear the unknown, because your Maker knows all things. I will guide you and lead you through the uncertainties. Call on Me; listen to Me and I will direct your next step.

You fear because you do not know the future, the outcome of your present challenges. I know all things and I will use all things for your good (Romans 8:28). My plans for you are good. I will walk you through your trials. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. I am your Father, and you are My child. I call you by name. I love you and I will take care of you. Trust in Me, and I will be faithful to My promises. Let My perfect love drive out all your fears (1 John 4:18). I will be with you always, even to the end of the age. Find your shelter and your rest in My capable arms. Do not be afraid. I will never leave you or forget about you (Joshua 1:5). You are Mine.

Prayer:

Faithful Father, thank You that even in the worst of times, I need not fear anything because You love me and take care of me. Thank You for faithfulness and your promises. Thank You for your protection and provision. I am so blessed that You call me Your child, and love me so perfectly. Thank You for calming my fears and reassuring me of Your care and protection. Please speak to me now as we meet for conversation. I long to know the deepest places of Your heart for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Two-way Conversation with God:

Father, please remind me of Your love for me. Tell me who I am in You. (Record the words and thoughts that come to your mind as you listen.)

Jesus, how do You feel about me? What is my identity in You? (Write the thoughts and impressions He gives you.)

Holy Spirit, please remind me of the Scripture that will calm my fears the most at this time. (Jot down any words or verses that come to mind as you listen.)

Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank You for speaking to my heart just now. Thank You for loving me and staying by my side through all my trials and challenges. Thank You for reminders of Your promises in Your Word. Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Spirit dwelling in me. It is a comfort that I can run to You any time of the day or night for calming reassurance. Thank You for Your peace even in the midst of the storm. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Pursuing the Heart of God – Day 9 – I am Your Comforter

O God, my Comforter, soothe my heart and mind in these uncertain days and times of great loss, tremendous stress, and unbearable grief. Lord, help me feel your peace which passes all understanding, when I find myself in the pain and discomfort of situations beyond my control. Lord, why do you allow us to endure these trials and suffer through difficulty, pain, and loss?

A Message from God’s Heart to Yours:

My child, it is hard for you to understand, however, it is because of My extreme love for you that I allow you to endure difficult times that draw you closer to Me. When you get to the end of yourself, you’ll turn to Me. At times, you first attempt to soothe your pain with worldly pleasures and remedies, like: food, alcohol, or movie marathons. But as their calming effects fade, the pain and hardship remain, and you are still left with the challenge of getting through it. You are not alone. I am with you.

In your pain, you will soon realize your best option is to turn to Me first. I am here for you at all times. I never leave you or forget about you (Joshua 1:5). I am your Comforter in times of sorrow and grief. My perfect love will drive out all your fears (1 John 4:18). My love for you is greater than your challenge. When you know and understand the depth of my love, you will begin to trust in Me more to walk you through your trials.

I am a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness (Psalm 86:15). I show compassion to all those who are afflicted and hurting. I care about you. I desire the best for you. Sometimes the best thing for you is to allow you to grow through life’s difficulties. When you experience tough times and rely on My love to get you through, you have a new faith and strength to draw on in the future. Your experience equips you better to help others through similar situations. Comfort them with the comfort you have been given (2 Corinthians 1:3-7).

I use all things together for the good of those who love Me and are called according to My purpose (Romans 8:28). I am in control of all things, and I use all things for your good. You are My beloved child, and I have called you into a good work for Me. I created you for a purpose. The grit and experience you gain from enduring difficult times has great value, both in your life and in My kingdom. Are you willing to bear the weight of this current earthly trial to make yourself stronger and more valuable for the next one?

Trust in Me and I will give you the peace your heart desires. Have faith that I will see you through your difficulties, and you will be stronger on the other side. Rest in Me and enjoy the confidence My perfect love affords you. Do not fear, I am with you always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20) …even in times that feel like the end.

Prayer:

Compassionate Father, may Your unfailing love be my comfort, according to Your promise in Psalm 119:76. May Your perfect love drive out all my fear according to Your promise in 1 John 4:18. I trade in my heavy load for a lighter load to carry. I yoke myself with You and ask that You would bear my weight on this journey (Matthew 11:28-30). Lord, carry me when I can no longer put one foot in front of the other. Thank You for Your comfort and the reassurance that You are always in control. I can rest in the knowledge of Your love and faithfulness. I appreciate Your peace and Your presence in my heart. Help me to clearly hear Your voice in my thoughts and my heart right now as I spend this time in conversation with you. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

I appreciate Your compassions, love and faithfulness which continues through all generations. Help me to effectively communicate Your unfailing love to everyone in my sphere of influence. I am grateful that You care about me enough to take time to comfort me in times of trouble. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I pray. Amen.

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor.

Jeremiah 8:18, You are my Comforter in sorrow, my heart is faint within me.

Jeremiah 31:13, “Then young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-7, Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

2 Corinthians 7:6, But God who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus, and not only by his coming but also by the comfort you had given him.

Philippians 2:1, Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.

Psalm 86:17, Give me a sign of Your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for You, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.

Isaiah 52:9-10, Burst into songs of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem, for the Lord has comforted His people, He has redeemed Jerusalem. The Lord will lay bare His holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.

Matthew 5:4, Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Roadblock #6 – Disobedience – The Enemy of Righteousness

Itâ€™s pretty simpleâ€”disobedience to God is sin. Clearly, sin separates us from God. He despises sin and doesnâ€™t want to be anywhere near it. Isaiah 59:1-2 says, â€œSurely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.â€ This verse confirms that sin and an unrepentant heart can keep God from hearing you. When He hides His face from you, most likely, He will not speak to you either. Does sin, or disobedience, stand in your way of hearing Godâ€™s voice?

Confession of sin is not only required by Godâ€”it is necessary for your own peace of mind. Confessing your sin, turning from it, and attempting to lead a clean life of obedience open the door of communication between you and God. In our humanness, we wonâ€™t ever be completely free of sin on earth, but we should try to live our lives in a different way than the rest of the world.

Of course, if youâ€™ve never confessed your sin and accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord, then you already live apart from God, and the Holy Spirit does not occupy your heart. In that case, you should not expect to hear Godâ€™s voice within at all.

1 John 1:8-10 says, â€œIf we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His word has no place in our lives.â€ Sounds like itâ€™s not if we sin, but when we sin, confession is required. Then, God is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us. Our full acceptance of His pardon releases us from all guilt and shame for that offense. God remembers our sins no more, so we can forget them also, and strive to do better next time we are tempted.

Even after accepting Christ as my Savior and being a Christian for many years, itâ€™s still nearly impossible to live a sin-free life. Thatâ€™s the goal, but sadly, in my humanness, itâ€™s not achievable on this side of the pearly gates. Jesus is the only person who ever accomplished that feat. One role of the Holy Spirit is to empower me to overcome temptation and resist sin. However, if I am not tuned in constantly, listening to Godâ€™s voice within, or if I am not willing to obey Him, I will fall short of Godâ€™s glory. Therefore, itâ€™s still possible, on any given day, that disobedience, unconfessed sin, rebellion, or repetitive sin could erect a roadblock that impedes my clear communication with God.

No matter how hard we try to defeat sin, at times, it becomes our master. Thankfully, we serve a High Priest who hears our confessions and daily intercedes on our behalf, restoring our relationships with God the Father. We worship an awesome God who sent His Son to be a sin offering in place of us, and then, He also sent us the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit to empower us to live our lives according to the Spirit rather than the sinful nature.

Satan has only as much power as we give him. How powerless have you become? Whatever your weakness, itâ€™s time to take back control! All of it! Weâ€™ve been given Jesusâ€™ authority over all sin. We have the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, and He lives inside us. Instead of relinquishing our power to the adversary, we must draw on the strength of the Holy Spirit within us to resist temptation and our tendency to believe the lies Satan introduces in our thoughts. We have the ability stand firm in our faith and resist all temptation because the Lord does not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can handle. â€œNo temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.â€ (1 Corinthians 10:13) Our brothers and sisters in Christ, who live in all parts of the world, suffer similar trials.

Be vigilant about guarding your heart and your mind. Do not allow the deceiver to carry out his battle plans on your watch. When I stood on the sidelines of life and did not participate in the big game, the devil did not need to concentrate his focus on me. The moment I invited Jesus into my heart and sought a more intimate relationship with Him, I enlisted in the battle of good vs. evil. Choosing Godâ€™s side, I put a large target on my back for the dragon, Satan, to take his aim. Satan sat up, took notice, and stepped-up his plan of action to derail me.

Most often, the common battlefield is our mind. Satan will continue to sway us toward disobedience. But Jesus triumphantly conquered this battle for us already. We can claim our victory over sin in the name and blood of Jesus Christ.

Are you ready to stand firm in your faith and embark on a barrier-free journey of intimacy with Jesus? If your desire is to do so, but you feel unprepared, I suggest you beef up your plan of counterattack against temptation and sin by practicing these steps daily:

Confess your sin.
Turn from your disobedient ways.
Immerse yourself in the Word of God. Meditate on it day and night.
Dress yourself in the full armor of God.
Be ready to draw the sword of the Spirit by being prepared with Scripture to battle temptation and lies.
Know your weak spots and vulnerabilities.
Take control of all your thoughts and make them obedient to Christ.
Remove any other roadblocks between you and God.
Listen to the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit all day long.
Obey the voice of God in your thoughts.

My darling, I love you, much more than you will ever comprehend. Your life is like a mere ember that can be squashed out any time. However, My love for you goes on forever. I will love you into all eternity. I love you to the moon and back, past the stars, and beyond the oceans. My love for you is greater than the expanse of the heavens. I love you long into the night and all throughout the day. There is no match for My love. Sit with Me a while and rest. Lean on Me and feel the warmth of My embrace. I kiss your cheek and whisper in your ear, “All is well, My love. I am with you always. I will never leave you.”

You are My beloved child. I am your loving Father. Stay with Me and absorb the abundance I give you. All I have is yours. Claim My blessing and My affection. It is yours for the taking. Ask, and you shall receive. I give you whatever you need, and then, I give you more. I will pour out My abundant blessing and My wisdom. My mercies are new every morning. Begin each day with Me and end it the same. Listen to My still, small voice throughout your day. I have much wisdom to impart. I will teach you all things and remind you what I have said. I will offer you conviction and encouragement, forgiveness and redemption, blessing and love.

Love is the greatest of My gifts to you, because it is unconditional, no strings attached. I love you no matter what. I love you regardless of your sins and shortcomings. I will forgive you again and again, when you ask. I help you in your time of need. When you are tempted, I offer you a way out. I strengthen you for each battle. I prepare you for every circumstance. I walk you through all your trials. I lift you up when you are down. I protect you when you are weak. I carry the weight of your burdens. I walk through fire for you. I modeled the depth of My love for you when I died on the cross, in your place.

You are the crown of my creation. I desire your full devotion. Do not give time to other gods. Put Me first. I am your One and only true God. I am your loving Father, your faithful friend. I will never leave you. I am with you at all times. I enjoy spending time with you. Will you sit with Me each day?

Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Apart from Me, you can do nothing. Experience all of Me when you spend time with Me daily. I am delighted in you. Delight yourself in Me, and I will give you the desires of your heart. You are My special angel. I am your doting Father. All I have belongs to you. I can’t wait to pour out My blessings upon you, when you spend time with Me. You are My child. I love you perfectly and completely.
